Founded 2018. An engineering firm across two continents.

willbö is a concept-to-production engineering firm. Founded in 2018 by two senior engineers — Julián Fontela and Enrique Araújo Fernández — with offices in Vigo (HQ) and Mumbai (engineering centre, 40+ engineers). We deliver naval and industrial engineering for shipyards, owners and industrial clients, and we develop our own products: CAPCO₂ (onboard carbon capture) and holö (mixed-reality engineering platform).

Julián Fontela Vivanco

Co-founder of willbö (2018). 25+ years in defence, naval and industrial engineering, with full P&L responsibility and consortium leadership across the sector. Today leads the CAPCO₂ consortium inside the TECNAVAL2025 / PERTE Naval programme and represents willbö at AINE, ENERCOR and the Carbon Capture Technology World Expo. Enrique Araújo Fernández

Co-founder and Managing Director of willbö (2018). 20+ years leading high-complexity engineering and operations across industrial, energy and naval projects in Spain and abroad, with full P&L responsibility. Previously Managing Director of an engineering subsidiary in Mumbai — the foundation of willbö's Spain–India delivery model today. PMP-certified. MBA (Universidad Intercontinental de la Empresa), MEng Mechanical Engineering (Universidade de Vigo).

Milestones

Eight years. Concept to production.

2018

Founded

willbö is founded in Vigo. Mumbai engineering centre opens the same year.

Spain–India delivery model from day one. First industrial contracts: Talara refinery (Peru) and El Salitre wastewater plant (Colombia).

2019

First polar contract

SH Vega — Swan Hellenic polar-class cruiser — awarded for engineering at Helsinki Shipyard.

First cruise programme in the portfolio. Engineering work continues across the build.

2020

Origins of holö

Covid hits. Several BWTS retrofit projects in service; remote-assistance identified as the strategic capability.

The idea of holö is born here — mixed-reality engineering as the answer to commissioning under travel restrictions.

2021

Combined cycle & holö in service

First combined-cycle engineering contract delivered. New SH Vega scope. holö adopted across the Suardiaz fleet for BWTS support.

Industrial division consolidates with combined-cycle work. holö exits prototype: the operator runs it across every BWTS commissioning in the fleet.

2022

Cruise hotel + first steps on hydrogen

Hotel-area engineering at Meyer Werft. Emissions-reduction strategy starts; engineering for hydrogen project tenders. Our clients win the awards.

2023

Hydrogen on the ground

Hydrogen consultancy projects move from paper to plant. Basic and detailed engineering for the Alcázar de San Juan facility.

2024

CAPCO₂ + LNG regas + Julio Verne H₂

The PERTE programmes open. CAPCO₂ development begins. holö evolves toward Navantia and PYMAR requirements. Two LNG regasification plants in delivery. Julio Verne hydrogen plant goes into engineering.

2025

Water, LNG bunkering, polar outfitting

Water treatment plants, LNG bunkering engineering, and detailed outfitting engineering for an icebreaker. CAPCO₂ reaches Approval in Principle with Bureau Veritas inside the TECNAVAL2025 / PERTE Naval consortium.

2026

Today

Biomass plants on the desk. Two products in market. Concept-to-production engineering across Vigo and Mumbai.
