Onboard CO₂ capture system for commercial ships
CAPCO2 captures CO₂ from a vessel's exhaust while it sails, stores it in an onboard solvent tank, and offloads it in port for regeneration with industrial waste heat — keeping the energy penalty off the ship. MEA-based absorption. Port-side regeneration with industrial waste heat. Target: intra-EU ferries, cement carriers, specialised carriers. Born as a willbö bet inside PERTE Naval, prototype built by IDESA, pilot executed at the Port of Vigo in October 2025.
Mixed reality for shipyards, EPCs and owners. 3D model overlay on as-built reality. Tree view for linked documentation, markups for project review, cloud-backed with Azure. Integrates with AVEVA E3D, Tekla, FORAN, CADMATIC, NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, ShipConstructor, Rhino.

Reference project · Carnival Mardi Gras
WhiteWater West commissioned willbö for the full structural package of BOLT — the first cruise-ship waterpark with an integrated roller-coaster — installed on Carnival's Mardi Gras at Meyer Turku. Slides, platforms, walkways and supports, plus the structural integration onto the ship's deck. From STAAD.Pro analysis to Tekla Structures fabrication drawings, designed around a hard transport constraint: every module had to fit on a truck, ship to Finland, and be lifted into place above deck 18.

Willbo Engineering 2 Build S.L. is a Spanish marine and industrial engineering firm founded in 2018, headquartered in Vigo (Galicia) with a delivery office in Mumbai, in the Mumbai metropolitan area of India. 30+ engineers. Two divisions — naval and industrial — plus two in-house products, CAPCO2 and holö.
CAPCO2 is willbö's onboard carbon-capture system for commercial shipping. MEA-based absorption on board, regeneration in port with industrial waste heat — so the shipowner's net capture under EU ETS and FuelEU equals the gross capture on board. TRL 7, Approval in Principle from Bureau Veritas, pilot executed in the Port of Vigo in October 2025 under PERTE Naval.
willbö delivered the full structural package for the BOLT waterpark on Carnival's Mardi Gras — slides, platforms, walkways and supports, plus the integration of the waterpark onto the ship's deck. Our client was WhiteWater West; their client was Meyer Turku. We took the structure from STAAD.Pro analysis through to Tekla Structures fabrication drawings. The geometry was broken into transportable modules pre-assembled before reaching the yard, reducing steel weight by 30% versus the baseline reference.
holö is willbö's mixed-reality platform for shipbuilding, running on Microsoft HoloLens 2. It overlays 3D engineering models on physical reality for shipyard, EPC and owner teams — with linked documentation, markups, multi-user collaboration and offline operation.
Insights
A technical and commercial read on MEA absorption, skid integration and the EU ETS / FuelEU cash-flow logic for intra-EU ferries.
Walkthrough of the BOLT waterpark structural package — modular geometry, fabrication drawings in Tekla Structures, and lifting logistics into the Meyer Turku yard.
The workflow we've validated with EPCs and owners, what breaks, and why the tree-view of linked docs matters more than the goggles.
